The Portuguese Theory is the ONLY true one engraved on Dighton Rock! By Manuel Luciano da Silva, Medical Doctor

I practiced Internal Medicine for 45 years. I examined several hundreds of thousands of patients from head to toe. Then I coordinated all the laboratory tests: urine, blood, X rays, CAT scans, ultrasound, MRI, EKG, etc. Using the scientific medical methods everyday, I made close to a million medical diagnoses during my professional career and many of them involved life and death! Obviously, I have been a scientist!

When members of the media asked me what university degrees do I have to be able to make ORIGINAL discoveries on historical documents, my answer to them is blunt and direct. I have applied exactly the same scientific methods I used for medical diagnoses, to make AUTOPSIES of historical documents and in this way I have been able to decipher NEW MEANINGS that the so called historians have missed!

Everyone thinks that the word AUTOPSY applies only to cadavers. NO! The word autopsy is composed of AUTO, meaning SELF, plus OPSIS meaning VISION. Anyone who wants to, truthfully, examine, the Dighton Rock inscriptions, has to perform its AUTOPSY! Has to exam the inscriptions FACE TO FACE, DURING THE NIGHT, WITH LIGHT SHINNING ON ITS FACE SIDEWAYS!

No one should attempt to make the diagnosis of Dighton Rock inscriptions from three thousand miles away! NEVER! Writing an autopsy report that way will be committing FRAUD!

This was exactly what the proponents of the Phoenician and Viking hypothesis DID. From more than three thousand miles away from the face of Dighton Rock, THEY ALTERED CERTAIN DOCUMENTS TO FIT THEIR PRECONCEIVED HYPOTHESIS!

In medical terms this would be MALPRACTICE, and CRIMINAL!

Let us consult the Webster’s International Third Edition:

Hypothesis is a compound Greek word.

Hypo, meaning under - a prefix signifying beneath, under, below normal, or deficient.

Hypothesis means – supposition, a mere tentative, a proposition that is subject to proof or to an experimental or statistical test

Theory – from Theos = god, close to god

Theory means – An explanation based on observation and reasoning, especially one that has been tested and confirmed as a general principle explaining a large number of related facts

Let us review the so called Phoenician and Viking Hypothesis.

We are going to verify that these two are mere hypothesis…

This hypothesis was proposed, in 1781, by Antone Court de Gebelin from Paris, France. He NEVER saw, face to face, the Dighton Rock inscriptions. He based his interpretations on Phoenician Mythology. But he ADDED a PHALLUS, or PENIS, to the drawing of the inscriptions he had received from America! It is true that the Phoenician people were the first ones to use the term PHALLUS for penis, but we have to state firmly that there is NO penis engraved on the face of Dighton Rock! The symbol of Phoenicia has always been a PINE TREE, not a PENIS. Today the icon of Lebanon (which comprises the land of old Phoenicia) is a PINE TREE displayed on the center of its flag!

In CONCLUSION, the so called Phoenician Hypothesis is FALSE and should be ABANDONED ONCE AND FOR ALL!

The so called Viking Hypothesis was proposed, in 1837, by Carl Christian Rafn (archaeologist), from Copenhagen, Denmark, where he was more than three thousand miles away from Dighton Rock. He NEVER saw, face to face, the Dighton Rock inscriptions. He based his interpretations on the Viking Sagas which state that a Viking navigator, called Thorfinn Karlsefin, came to Vinland, in North America, just after the year 1000.

To fit his PRECONCEIVED Viking Hypothesis, Rafn ADDED the letters FIN to the center of the copy of the inscriptions he had received from the Rhode Island Historical Society of Providence, Rhode Island, USA, to produce the name KARLSEFIN based on the Viking Sagas.

What he did is BLATANT FORGERY! IT INADMISSIBLE! It is MALPRACTICE. It is CRIMINAL!

In CONCLUSION the so called VIKING Hypothesis is FALSE and should be ABANDONED ONCE AND FOR ALL!

The same rules for performing an AUTOPSY SHOULD BE APPLIED to the Portuguese theory. And three men DID analyze, FACE TO FACE, the Dighton Rock inscriptions. These three man did NOT alter any drawings or photos. They simply read WHAT is inscribed on the face of the rock!

(1) Edmund Burke Delabarre, the founder of Experimental Psychology at Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA;

(2) Joseph Dâmaso Fragoso, Portuguese Language Instructor at New York University;

(3) Manuel Luciano da Silva, graduated from the Coimbra Medical School, (Portugal) and graduated in Internal Medicine at Lahey Clinic in Boston.

All these three researchers studied the Dighton Rock FACE TO FACE, each one for decades! They walked into Taunton river mud with their boots to face the rock! They ONLY READ WHAT IS ENGRAVED ON THE FACE OF THE ROCK. THEY DID THE EPIGRAPHIC ANALYSIS OF THE INCRIPTIONS, USING THIS SCIENTIFIC TECHNIQUE TO BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE AUTOPSY OF THE INSCRIPTIONS!

• Conclusion of the Portuguese inscriptions:

• Flag No. 1 - The Portuguese Coat of Arms "U" shaped

• Flag No. 2 – The Portuguese Cross of the Order of Christ

• Flag No. 3 – The Portuguese Coat of Arms "V" shaped

• Captain’s name – Miguel Corte Real

• The date 1511 with five like a capital S

( A) On December 2^nd, 1918, Delabarre declared to the world that he saw ENGRAVED on the face of the Dighton Rock:

(1) the date 1511,

(2) the name of the Portuguese Navigator, Miguel Corte Real,

(3) the Portuguese Coat of Arms, "V" shaped.

( B ) In June 1951, Fragoso published in the magazine "Portuguese World", (New York City) an article revealing his discovery of three Portuguese Crosses of the Order of Christ and the Portuguese Coat of Arms, "U" shaped.

( C ) On September 8^th, 1960, Luciano da Silva revealed, at the First International Congress of the History of the World Discoveries held at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, his finding of the FOURTH Cross of the Order of Christ with 45 degree extremities.

TODAY we can still SEE all these symbols ENGRAVED on the face of Dighton Rock, when we shut off all pavilion lights, where the rock is now preserved, and then use a flash light to highlight the CONTRAST of the inscriptions with the Portuguese symbols!

AMAZING! These inscriptions are the AUTHENTIC PROOF of the Portuguese Theory! The Portuguese Theory is the only one that fulfills perfectly the definition of theory in Webster’s Dictionary!

It was Jean-François Champollion who first used the term "Historical Cartouche" when he deciphered the secrete of the Rosetta Stone in 1822-1824. The names of Cleopatra and Ptolemy appeared engraved in Egyptian hieroglyphs characters which together formed, for each name, a capsule which Champollion decided to call it "Historical Cartouche", because it contained the essential elements. A similarity happens with the Portuguese Cartouche. Here it is:

There are many examples of this fact in the scientific world: Mendel, who discovered the laws of genetics; Galileo, who defended the theory that the earth goes around the sun; Alfred Wagner, who presented the theory of the separation of the continents, etc. In the past many of the great minds died BEFORE their original discoveries were finally accepted by mankind!

But when we are dealing with historical interpretations, it is much worse. NEW IDEAS TAKE EVEN MUCH LONGER TO BE ACCEPTED BECAUSE OF SOCIAL BIAS! Perceptions and beliefs are like a "virus" in the brain of certain people who do not have the courage to change, to face and accept the truth! These people prefer to live in an unreal world!

I believe the time has come for us to ask publicly why the people of Berkley were never interested in the historical meaning of Dighton Rock! Why? Because there has been too much confusion, too many nonsensical so called "theories" about the inscriptions and the Berkleyans NEVER wanted to get involved in so many controversies. And they have been right!

Delabarre was a citizen of Berkley for several decades but he somehow never made any effort to get the local people involved in the meaning of his original discovery.

Now it is a big challenge to have the people of Berkley accept the fact of the TRUE THEORY OF THE DIGHTON ROCK INSCRIPTIONS was carved by the Portuguese Navigator Miguel Corte Real 1511.

We have to present to the Berkley Governing Authorities the conclusive scientific facts concerning the TRUE THEORY, and also to Trustees of the Library, to the School Committee, to the Educators, to the social leaders, to the professionals and commercial leaders and to the youth of Berkley for them to realize the extraordinary historical value of Dighton Rock that they all in their own town. I also want to tell all of them – face to face -- that I do not want any money, nor any homage from the town of Berkley. I simply realize that the time has come for me to pass the torch and have the people of Berkley take full possession of the historical significance of Dighton Rock as a national American monument.

On April 18, 2011, it will be the 276^th Anniversary of the founding of the Town of Berkley. We have to coordinate all the good will of all citizens of Berkley so that we can have a double anniversary by also celebrating the 500^th Anniversary of the Dighton Rock inscriptions and start celebrating from that date on, an Annual Holiday for the Town of Berkley. How these two important festivities can be accomplished?

Plymouth Rock has given to the American people one of the most beautiful Holidays, the Thanksgiving! Plymouth Rock is one of the corners of the American History, and we believe Dighton Rock should be considered also a very important chapter in the beginnings of the United States of America. They should complement each other as very important American Monuments.
