Thirteen Boxes
Of Books Were Shipped

For five months, from October 22, 2000, to April 9th 2001, I spent many hours in my library at home, cataloguing my many thousands of books on Medicine, History, Cartography, Geology, Anthropology, various Encyclopedias,  newspapers and magazine with my articles, personal  letters, etc., (to be  placed on my website)  and also to  serve as a description of  “Declaration of Baggage” for the Custom Authorities in Portugal where  all this is  to be sent to Cavião, Vale de Cambra, Continental Portugal, in order to  become  part of the Library-Museum with my name, which will be inaugurated this year, on June 13th, Saint Anthony’s Day!

My son José Jorge da Silva started making special boxes with 3/4 inch plywood, with the following dimension: 47 inches long, by 32 inches high. But the boxes with these dimension were too heavy, so the next ones were 47 inches, by 24 inches. Even though, each box  weighted  about a ton each.

We kept the boxes in my two car garage, and the number continued to grow and when April 10, 2001, came,  we had THIRTEEN boxes  full of books

This photo is a wide angle showing the space of the two car garage and the boxes.

Click here  to see a few photos of the  box's as they sat in my garage, taking up all the space where  I normally park my cars.
