Today is indeed an historical day! I have been waiting 500 years for this day, to have someone from the Government of Portugal, Azores or Madeira to come here and thank Miguel Corte Real and his 20 sailors for giving up their lives to open the maritime route for us to come to this part of North America.

We, Americans, to better understand the maritime world discoveries accomplished by the courageous Portuguese Navigators, we should compare their achievements with the conquest of our Outer Space Explorations by our Astronauts.

The American Astronauts brought back the moon rocks as proof that they were on a different planet.

And two small moon rocks, almost 25 years ago, came to visit the Dighton Rock Museum and we had them displayed inside the glass enclosure near the Dighton Rock and more than five thousand visitors came to see the moon rocks.

The American astronauts implanted on the surface of the moon, the American flag, as a sign of discovery!

The Portuguese Navigators brought back to the their King proof that they were in different lands - plants, animals and birds -- and also took possession of the lands they discovered by leaving engravings on rocks the Portuguese National Symbols and later on, implanting a ready-made Portuguese monument called Padrão.

Dighton Rock is the proof of that Portuguese rule, and of the discovery made in 1502, by Miguel Corte Real, who was born in the City of Angra in the Island of Terceira in the archipelago of the Azores.

There are Royal Charts in the Archives of Lisbon, Portugal, affirming that Miguel Corte Real obtained permission from King Manuel I, to come on a second voyage of the discovery in 1502, to the lands of North America. These are historical facts. Nobody can deny them.

How come it has taken so long for the American historians to make the correct diagnosis of the inscriptions engraved on the face of the Dighton Rock?

Because the American scholars do not know the Portuguese Nationals Symbols. Even today, NONE of the Anglo-Saxon encyclopedias give ANY information about the shape of the Portuguese Coat of Arms, nor about the shape of the Cross of the Order of Christ with 45 degrees extremities which was always displayed on all the sails of the Portuguese caravels. There are in the world 317 different types of Crosses, but the Portuguese Cross is unique with branches at 45 degrees.

Let me give you a striking example. Professor Delabarre of Brown University, who discovered in 1918 the name of Miguel Corte Real engraved on Dighton Rock, was given the Award of the Golden Cross of the Order of Christ by the Portuguese Government in 1924, which he displayed over his chest but he was not able to decipher the same Cross of the Order Christ engraved on the face of the Dighton Rock!

Why do the Anglo-Saxon encyclopedias continue to keep the American people so ignorant concerning the Portuguese National Symbols! Why?

How many theories have been proposed for the Dighton Rock inscriptions?

Some people say up to 22. All of them, except one, have been fantasies or frauds.

Let me give some examples. Some people have written that the inscriptions were made by Jesus Crist, and others say, by the Devil! Is n’t this ridiculous. Yet people continue to write using this non-sense as references!

Let me tell you about the frauds.

I practiced Internal Medicine for 45 years. During this period I had thousands of opportunities to make comparative analyses of electrocardiograms of the same patients to make sure that he or she was not developing a heart attack. These were serious situations, many times concerning life and death.

With my dexterous experience of detecting minor differences reading the electrocardiograms, I applied the same scientific techniques to compare the drawings of the Dighton Rock inscriptions made before the invention of photography in 1836 by Louis Daguerre.

Eureka! I discovered frauds committed by the proponents of the Phoenician and Viking theories. Nobody before had detected these frauds! Let us take a quick look at them.

In 1768 a fellow by the name Court De Gebelin, in Paris, France, received a drawing of the Dighton Rock inscriptions sent to him by a Professor from Harvard University, and this Frenchman, without ever seen the face of the rock, decided to add a phallic symbol, or a penis, to the drawing of the inscriptions he had received from America, so he could describe his preconceived Phoenician Theory. He committed FRAUD by changing the drawing! He should never have altered the original drawing. This was pure fraud. We should NEVER talk about the Phoenician theory!

This is the drawing Gebelin got in Paris, France. Now look to the right	In Paris, France, Gebelin ADDED a phallic symbol or penis!!  He committed FRAUD!

Now let me show you another sheer Fraud in relation to the so called Viking theory. In 1830 the Rhode Island Historical Society from Providence sent a drawing of the inscriptions to a fellow by the name Christian Rafn, who was the Secretary of the Danish Historical Society in Copenhagen, Denmark, because he was writing a book about the Vikings discovering America.

Do you want to know what Christian Rafn did? Because the Viking sagas state that a navigator by the name Thorfinn on the year 999 made a voyage to north America, Christian Rafn in Denmark ADDED 3 letters FIN, in the center of the drawing he received from America, to coincide with the name Thorfinn of the Viking Sagas, ALTERING the drawing he had received from the Rhode Island Historical Society, so he could support his preconceived Viking Theory. He committed FRAUD by changing the original drawing! He should never have done such a thing! This was blunt fraud. We should NEVER again talk about the Viking theory!

Rafn got this drawing in Denmark, but he changed it. Look to the right	Rafn in Denmark ADDED 3 Letters  F I N  to fit his preconceived theory. FRAUD!

On the panels inside the Dighton Rock Museum we have exposed these frauds for the visitors to see and to make their differential diagnoses. We have not hidden anything from anyone. We want the truth to be exposed.

Let me conclude with another truth about the geologists

For more than fifty years, I was misled by the geologists. I wrote to hundreds of American university geologists and asked them to recommend to me the best scientific techniques to make the diagnoses of the inscriptions. I received hundred of replies from the universities but NO Geologist was frank enough to say that the inscriptions were not within the scope of their specialty!

It was Professor Vassil Zlatarski with a PhD, in Geology from the University of Sofia in Bulgaria and another PhD in Maritime Geology from the University of Moscow in Russia that a few years ago told me bluntly after he visited the Museum with me. He said:

I searched in more than five thousand American Universities and I still could not find TODAY one American Epigraphist of the XV and XVI Centuries. This is amazing!

In USA and Portugal the great original historical discoveries have always been made by amateurs!

The three musketeers

There are three men responsible for the diagnosis of the Portuguese Theory. Professor Delabarre, Professor Fragoso and myself. The Portuguese theory was discovered in 1918, by Professor Delabarre more than 93 years ago. For almost a century NOBODY has challenged it. Professor Delabarre had a house here in Berkley, a mile and half from here. Professor Delabarre was a resident of Berkley and he was also a hero of Berkley.

It is very easy to read the Portuguese inscriptions if you are familiar with the Portuguese National Symbols.

On the face of the rock we see the date 1511, the name of the Navigator Miguel Corte Real, the Portuguese Coat of Arms and the four Crosses of the Order of Christ.

We Americans always want to be champions in every achievement. We should note that the engraving of Dighton Rock inscriptions were made by expert Portuguese navigators who five centuries ago were the world champions of navigation!
