Until October 13, 1963, Dighton Rock was in the tidal waters of the great Taunton River. People do not remember anymore the way the Rock was abandoned! Now it is a precious stone! It is enclosed in a glass enclosure protected from the vandals! That is quite a difference! |

April 11 Come visit! At 2 p.m. June Moskal will present the history of Berkley’s incorporation, which happened on April 18th,1735. There is a coloring activity for children to learn about the town seal. Diane Ennis will be the museum volunteer of the day.
May 9 Happy Mother’s Day! At 1:30 p.m. Come join Minoweh Ikidowin, who “will give honor to all mothers by giving thanks through ceremony and storytelling, which will especially honor Mother Earth, the lifegiver that sustains and nourishes us all”. Volunteer: John Possinger
June 13 Dr. Luciano DaSilva will be available to point out symbols of interest on Dighton Rock and engage in informed discussion. More details of the celebration of Portuguese cultural history will be forthcoming. Volunteer: Catherine Westgate
July 11 Elsie Goldstein will explore nature with children ages 3 and up with activities from the Growing Up Wild curriculum. Volunteer: Carole Johnson
August 8 The topic will be shipbuilding. From 1791 to1866, small sloops and small and large schooners were built in Berkley. There will be an activity led by Alex Tinkham, Audrey Tinkham, Sarah Poor and Julia Poor to compare Viking, Phoenician, and Portuguese ships. Volunteer: Liz Lapointe
Sept. 12 Join in a Wild Edibles Walk from 1:30 to 2:30, led by D.C.R.’s state park interpreter/naturalist, Amy Wilmot. Volunteer: Diane Ennis
More program details will be announced at a later time. There is a canoe/kayak excursion in the planning stages for August or September.
