Do you know what the Redstone is? If you don’t know it, then you don’t know one of the most important elements in all of Minecraft. We are going to explain not only what this material is and what can be done with it, but also why it is so special for every player who wants to experiment with circuits and mechanisms in the game. We are going to tell you all about Redstone and Redstone Dust in this guide.
Before getting into the subject, we advise you to see our special Minecraft Guide with tricks, tips, skins, mods, commands, and much more. It is ideal for any good Minecraft player, and a must if you really want to take advantage of all the blocks in this game, we anticipate it.
Redstone is a reddish material that is used to make mechanisms and potions especially. Here we are not going to delve into the latter, but we are going to explain both how to find it and what things can be manufactured with an element derived from its block. And is that, in general, what you will find are blocks of Redstone ore that you will have to go through the furnace to get the Redstone Powder. The latter is the real key, the one most used to make all kinds of special objects.
There are many ways to get this material, and then we will explain the best ones. But not before also pointing out that, if you place Redstone on the ground, you will automatically be able to manufacture Redstone circuits that take advantage of the unique character of this element. It acts as a conductor that can carry the thermal load of the fire or the electricity of a switch to do anything you can think of. It is quite a time bomb for the most creative.
There are different ways to get Red Stone Dust or Redstone Dust by playing Minecraft. The most comfortable and simple is exploring mines, caves, and underground. By doing that, you will find Redstone ores that you can only mince with an iron, gold, or diamond pickaxe. Using this tool you will obtain the Redstone Ore that, later, you will have to take to the smelting furnace to get the Redstone Powder :
- Redstone Dust – 1x Redstone Ore + Any Fuel
It is a good way, but not the only one. You can also get more of this powder by exploring chests found in certain locations. If you go hunting for chests, take a look at the ones that appear in Villages, Forest Mansions, Dungeons, Abandoned Mines, and Fortresses. There you can also come across Redstone Dust in large quantities.
What to make with Redstone Powder
The key when making creations is not the Redstone as such, but the dust that emerges from its blocks. If you squeeze them to get this material, you will have an element that will be essential for the creation of automated mechanisms of all kinds. We are going to explain what you can make with Redstone Powder below.
At the Foundry
There is nothing you can do with Redstone Powder in the smelting furnace. However, it can be achieved through this oven. Above we have explained how to do it, in the section on how to get the Redstone Dust or Red Stone. Have you overlooked it? Well then do not wait any longer, go up, and come back when you have learned well how to get it.
At the Work Table
Redstone Dust can be used to create circuits, as it can act as a conductor when placed on some blocks. There is the key to its potential, although you can also create other objects if you combine it on the Artboard. These are the main creations that you can carry out with it:
- Redstone Block – 9x Redstone Dust
- Watch – 4x Gold Ingot + 1x Redstone Dust
- Compass – 4x Iron Ingot + 1x Redstone Dust
- Sensor Rail – 6x Iron Ingot + 1x Redstone Dust + 1x Stone Plate
- Dispenser – 7x Rock Block + 1x Bow + 1x Redstone Dust
- Hopper – 7x Rock Block + 1x Redstone Dust
- Musical Block – 8x Wood Block + 1x Redstone Dust
- Piston – 3x Wood Block + 4x Rock Block + 1x Iron Ingot + 1x Redstone Dust
