My good friend, Paul Ferreira, born in the beautiful Madeira Island, sent me this set of color photographs  showing the fireworks of  New Year's Eve celebration - 2004!

These photographs are spectacular! Enjoy them and dream that next year you and your family are going to be in Funchal Madeira to celebrate the New Year of 2005!

This morning, January 15th, 2004, the new Queen Mary 2, the largest passenger  ship ever built, is in Funchal,  Madeira,  on her very first trip across the Atlantic!

The Chef of three restaurants on the Queen Mary 2 was born in Madeira, and when he was interviewed this morning by the Portuguese International Television,  he cried of satisfaction of being  in  largest ship in the world, as the main Chef and  being anchored  in the city where  he was born!

Let us remind ourselves  that the Portuguese Cristovão Colon  was raise in Madeira-Porto and in 1478,  married Filipa de Perestrelo, the daughter of the Governor of Madeira!...

Here are the color photographs sent by  Paul Ferreira.   Enjoy them:

We do not need any words to describe this scene...

This photo is taken from a ship on the Harbour towards the City of Funchal

Another photo from a ship

This is a crescendo finale!
