My Letter to Time

Cover of May 3rd, 2004 |

"Time Magazine" is a famous American publication known all over the world. Lately it has been having at least six cover stories related to the national American crisis: the obesity.
There are many scientists, nutritionists, governmental officials, etc. that have all given their explanations, but NONE goes to the heart of the problem -- the industrialization, or the manufacturing of the food!
Here is the letter I sent, by e-mail and by fax, to the headquarters of "Time Magazine" in New York City. Let us see if they have the guts to published it.
"Time Magazine" has a weekly average circulation of 4,109,992 copies, which means more than fifty million readers every week!

Dear Sir:
The Achilles’ tendon of the obesity crisis in America rests in the flour mills. They should stop refining all flours from the cereals such as wheat, corn, oats and rye.
The refined particles are quickly reabsorbed at the level of the small intestine mucosa, and within one hour they will cause the sugar in the blood to reach values above normal, calling for Insulin which will transform the excess of sugar into glycogen – stored in the liver – and into fat which will be accumulated in the breasts, in the buttocks and around the waist line.
If the flour particles are made large, coarse, their reabsorption will be much slower and therefore the sugar will not go above the normal values, avoiding the action of Insulin, preventing the transformation into fat and obesity.
