So many writers behave like monkeys,
or copycats, when  writing about Dighton Rock
By Manuel Luciano da Silva, Medical Doctor

I am amazed by the high degree of ignorance that continues to exist in books, and various  articles in the media, including the Internet, about the Dighton Rock inscriptions.

Many, so called historians, continue to repeat the same mistakes,  using  using  the same foot notes, copying them from various publications, without  making any effort  to check any of those references. It is really pathetic!

(1)   First of all,  there is a tendency to state that the inscriptions of Dighton Rock were made by the Vikings. This is a terrible mistake, because the Vikings, coming from the north Atlantic,  could NOT navigate to  enter the Taunton river with their type of  square rigger sail. With this type of sail nobody, even today, can  navigate downward, against the strong Gulf  Current which is so  dominant in front of the New England.

We have even today the same laboratory conditions, the same ocean, and the same water currents and winds,  as they existed  for millions of years ago.

Let us do an experiment.  Get today  a Viking ship and try to navigate it from Newfoundland down to Narragansett Bay. Never happens! Only a lateen (triangular) sail can navigate against the wind, tacking,  in a zigzag way! The Portuguese sailors were the first to use the lateen sail in the Atlantic!

(2)   I am really amazed how so many writers emit their opinion about the Dighton Rock inscriptions without knowing the basic information about the Portuguese national symbols: such as the Portuguese national flag, the Portuguese Cross of the Order of Christ,  the type of numerals and the shape of the letters used in Portugal during the period of the great discoveries. If  these writers  want to affirm their honest diagnosis, they  should go to Portugal and see with their own eyes the Portuguese national symbols. Then, and only then,  would they be in a position to make the correct diagnosis and  find  the truth.

(3)   Another terrible mistake is the way various writers -- like monkeys--, copy  the message in Latin, which was first proposed by Edmund Delabarre, attributed to Miguel Corte Real !  “V. DEI hic  DUX  IND”.  (Voluntate Dei hic dux indorum) = “Chief of the Indians here by grace of God”.

The Portuguese navigators NEVER used any messages in Latin, marking the new lands that they  discovered, in Africa, in Asia, or South America!   Why keep repeating this mistake! Because it is fanciful?!   Stop it! It is non-sense, and only reveals complete ignorance on the part of the writers who continue to repeat  it.

The real thing

Analyzing the historical value of Dighton Rock,  we should consider ONLY the Dighton Rock inscriptions.  The inscriptions engraved on the face of Dighton Rock are the  REAL HISTORICAL TRUTH, are the real McCoy!

If you formulate an hypothesis and there are NO inscriptions engraved on the face of Dighton Rock to confirm your hypothesis, you have NO theory!  It is as simple as that!

(1)   There are NO runic letters engraved on the face of Dighton Rock, nor any national symbols of any Scandavian country!!! Therefore there is NO Viking theory!

(2)   There are NO letters or  symbols typical of the Phoenicia!!! Therefore there is NO Phoenician theory!

(3)   THERE ARE ONLY Portuguese National Symbols engraved on the face of the Dighton Rock. Therefore THERE IS  a Portuguese theory.

Any one that is not familiar, that does not know the format of the Portuguese national symbols, will miss the boat…

Indeed it is very simple to make the correct diagnosis,  if you know the Portuguese national symbols. It is lots of fun!

Do yourself a pleasant favor: go to Portugal and  you will have an  wonderful experience, and upon your return,  then write about the Dighton Rock inscriptions.  Until then,  stop behaving like an imitating monkey, or copycat!… copying the same mistakes from others… It is ridiculous behavior! Be original and correct!
