"You Choose Fraud!"
By Manuel Luciano da Silva, Medical Doctor
On Sunday, July 25, 2010, at 2PM, my wife and I were at the Dighton Rock Museum waiting for two Representatives from the State of Rhode to visit the Museum. They were Representative Mike Rice and Representative Elsie Naughton and their spouses.
The weather was perfect, sunny and warm. The air conditioning was on in the museum so my wife and I stayed inside sitting comfortably on chairs. When visitors came in, I introduced myself and asked them if I could be of some help. I had three small groups of visitors before the Representatives arrived.
In front of the rock, I told the visitors that the best way to analyze the inscriptions is to start with one theory and then from there try to COMPARE, try to read the other theories. Otherwise it will be too confusing and people will leave the museum all mixed up.
PORTUGUESE:
Using drawings of Portuguese
symbols, and COMPARING them with the inscriptions ENGRAVED on the rock by
POINTING TO THEM with my laser pointer, the visitors are able to understand how the
inscriptions can be read!

This same technique is then applied to the other theories: Indian, Phoenician and Viking.
By pointing with the laser pointer to the photographs of these theories that are in the frames, in front of the rock, I indicate with my pointer on the face of the rock where the important parts of EACH theory are or should to be engraved on the face of the rock.
AMERICAN INDIAN:
I point to the “round faces” that supposed to
have been done by the American Indians.

The Indians did not know letters nor numerals. They could do faces or grimaces. 1680. |
PHOENICIAN:
Then, I do the same thing for the Phoenician,
but I have to inform the visitors that the proponent of the Phoenician theory, Antone
Court de Gebelin in Paris, France, committed
FRAUD by adding a penis and
scrotum to the drawing he had received from America. He should NEVER had
done that!

VIKING:
Next, I applied the same rule to the Viking
theory. I pointed to the photograph in front of the rock and compared it with
the parts on the face of the rock where the proponent of the Viking theory,
Carl Christian Rafn from Copenhagen, Denmark, CHANGED the drawing of the
inscriptions he had received from the Rhode Island Historical Society, from
Providence, Rhode Island, in 1834.
IN 1836, Rafn ADDED THREE LETTERS, F I N to coincide with the Viking name Thorfinn. He ALTERED the drawing! He committed FRAUD! He should NEVER had done that!

CONCLUSION:
I conclude my explanation by advising the
visitors to pick up a copy of the free pamphlet which has all the information
contained on the panels. Then at home go on our website
www.dightonrock.com for much more information, color photographs and other
details. Any questions e-mail me. I thank them for their visit and ask if they
have any questions.
I also tell them that I have given them the TRUTH. But it is up to them to choose the theory of their preference.
I do not ask the visitors about their profession. But this afternoon a man about forty identified himself as an Archaeologist and said he had been at the museum several times before. I thanked for his interest in the Museum. Then he said: “I still prefer the Viking theory!” And then I replied to him: “You choose fraud! It is your choice!” And he stated: “Show me again, the fraud in the Viking”. Then I answering him: “Ok, let us go in front of the panel for the Viking theory”.
So we did. In front of panel for the Viking theory, I pointed to the center of the drawing of the Rhode Island Historical Society and then pointed to the same area on the drawing that was made by Rafn in Denmark, where, we can see clearly, he ADDED the three letters FIN to coincide with the name Thorfinn!
And the Archaeologist said, “I am sorry, I have not noticed that before!”
I said: “That is OK”.
Post Scriptum:
What upsets me, with this episode, is that an
archaeologist comes to the Museum with a PRECONCEIVED diagnosis of a
theory that he WANTS the rock to confirm for him!
That is not
science! That is not been truthful. That is not true Epigraphy! That is
choosing FRAUD!
You MUST read what is ENGRAVED on the rock, NOT what you wish to “see” on the rock!
Dighton Rock is an American monument. If you want to have peace of mind do not go to the Museum with a preconceived idea about the inscriptions. Try to understand the inscriptions that are ENGRAVED on the rock. Study the symbols and the background history. Then you will have a wonderful feeling!!!
