Drake set to executive produce a sports documentary about Black hockey players

While fans continue to await Drake’s upcoming album, Certified Lover Boy, what’s Next’s rapper took to the media to announce a new project he’ll be involved in, and this is a sports documentary.

In a statement released to the media, Davis said: “I was not only surprised but inspired to learn about the stories of the often overlooked and unheralded Black pioneers of hockey. I think it is more important than ever before for all generations, particularly young people of colour, to understand and see the diverse faces who have contributed and shaped one of the essential fabrics of our country.”

While Drake was popularly known for being a rapper and the global ambassador for the NBA team, Toronto Raptors, the artist admitted that he grew up playing hockey.

During an interview with ESPN in 2010, Drake confirmed that he played right-wing and even made it to Upper Canada College hockey camp, which is where the good kids are sent, according to him.
