Delivery day is thrilling, that moment before you remember your new bed/mattress has to get around the corner of the narrow hallway, clearly designed in 1842. Taking five minutes now to measure can prevent a whole lot of stress and lots of awkward shuffling on the stairs.
Step 1: Measure the product
Confirm packed dimensions (box size) plus bed/mattress sizes. A king mattress may be 150cm wide, but the packaging adds on. For Pay Monthly Beds, contact https://www.simplypayweekly.co.uk/pay-monthly-beds
Step 2: Using a measuring tape, you need to measure around your narrowest points
Grab a tape measure and note:
Width of the front door (frame to frame)
Hallway width
Any internal doors that the item has to go through
The most acute bend (the bottom of a staircase or corner on the landing)
Tip: Also measure across corners; sometimes that is the actual constraint.
Step 3: Stairs and landings
Measure:
Staircase width
Ceiling height over the stairs (tall objects may get stuck under low ceilings)
Landing depth (Can you pivot that item?) Especially if you live with a spiral staircase or very thin stairs.
Step 4: Plan the route
Remove obstructions (carpets or runners, show racks, pictures), hold doors open, and clear a parking spot close to the house that will accommodate the delivery team calmly.
Step 5: When in doubt, ask
Plan if your measurements are tight and reach out to the retailer/delivery team. Planned adjustment is easier than abandonment.
