Batgirl Movie: J.K. Simmons set to return to the Batman Universe as James Gordon

Popular American actor, J. K. Simmons will be coming back to the Bat Universe. The 66-year-old actor has been reported to be negotiating terms to reprise the role of classic Batman character Commissioner James Gordon in the Batgirl series, a Warner Bros’ feature for HBO Max that has been casting up recently.

Leslie Grace, who was famous for her role in “In the Heights”, also scored a role for herself last week, while “Bad Boys for Life” filmmakers Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi will be directing a script by Christina Hodson, who has become a mainstay at DC following her script with Birds of Prey and is now screenwriting the upcoming The Flash. Kristin Burr, who produced Cruella, will be producing, and several best online casinos that payout love this idea.

While the plot details are yet to be revealed to the media, the project is being versioned to be released in 2020 on the Warner Media streaming service.

James Gordon is a famous and one of the oldest characters in the Batman universe, having made his debut in the Dark Knight’s initial appearance in Detective Comics No. 27 back in 1939.

The famous character was then tied to the Batgirl in the 1960s when she was first introduced to the media in the comics and the Adam West television series as Gordon’s daughter, Barbara Gordon, who is an employee at the Gotham City Public Library.

Over the years, after series of expansion and rebooted multiversity storylines, Gordon has taken up the role of being Barbara Gordon’s father, uncle, and adoptive father.

Simmons is no newbie when it comes to James Gordon’s character, as he took up the role after being cast as Gordon by Zack Snyder for 2017 Justice League and he was also shown in the filmmaker’s restored cut, which was known as the Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight back in 2019, Simmons confirmed that he had signed on to play the role for three movies and he is hoping to continue with the character at some point. He said via casino South Africa: “I hope there’s more of that in the future,”

The James Gordon’s character has been played by several actors ever since its introduction to the comics, which includes Lyle Talbot in the 1949 serial Batman and Robin, by Neil Hamilton in the 1960s Batman TV series, and Gary Old man in The Dark Knight franchise, which was directed by Christopher Nolan.

With the plot yet to be known, we can only speculate so much about his role, and since we are already familiar with the James Gordon character, we can already guess that Simmons will be fighting for justice.
